Every time I get one in, the entire staff is floored by its magnificence. The tone is always astonishingly loud, clear and bell-like acoustically. Cosmetically every detail is perfect. From the fit and finish to the fret work to the incredible wood selection. Nik never disappoints.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\n\tThe Nik Huber Kratuster I has to be one of the top 10 best sounding guitar models we have ever had. It's also one of the absolute most fun to play! The single pickup design sounds killer and is suprisingly versatile thanks to a push\/pull on the tone control for coil split. But really- all you need to do is plug into an amp and crank it up to sound like a guitar god. Want clean? Just roll back on the volume. Want gain? Roll up. The oil finished Maple neck is beautiful but it's also silky smooth and ultra-confortable. Just fat enough to be fat. But refined. Not so huge that it feels cumbersome or bloated. Super woody with plenty of twang and spank, but natural and organic sounding without some of the harsh qualities that can often be found on vintage Teles. Original vintage '51 Nocaster specifications with the exception of slightly larger frets and a flatter radius for improved playability, along with a set of Twisted Tele pickups for a more versatile sonic palette. The Fender Custom Shop Twisted Tele neck pickup is one of my favorites! The main difference between it and the stock Nocaster neck pickup is the type of metal the cover is made of- The Twisted Tele pickup allows more highs which give it a more lively, Strat-like tone. Like all Teuffel instruments, every detail is exquite and over-engineered. It's neck-through contruction incorporates old-growth birdseye Maple with a Pau Ferro fingerboard. The body sides are American alder. It features a 25.6\" scale length and 22 Dunlop 6105 frets.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\t\u003cp\u003e\n\t\tAlthough it may seem incredibly strange, the transition from neck to body at the 7th fret is in the shape of a groove and actually allows for comfortable and easy access to even the highest registers. This design not only allows unlimited tonal possibilities, but also results in a very lively and percussive tone.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\t\t\u003cp\u003e\n\t\t\t\u003cstrong\u003eThe Design:\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\t\t\u003cp\u003e\n\t\t\tThe body consists of two tonebars which are screwed on both central elements \"bird\" and \"fish\". The neck is bolted onto the upper element \"bird\" while the lower \"fish\" carries the control box in which you find the guitar electronics. A rail between \"bird\" and \"fish\" holds the slideable pickups. All three pickups can be exchanged with each other within seconds.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\t\t\u003cp\u003e\n\t\t\tAll of the parts (including some of the screws) are painstakingly manufactured by Ulrich Teuffel in his workshop to exacting specifications. This guarantees that all parts harmonize together in the best manner. Only the Tune-o-matic bridge comes from Gotoh and Schaller.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\t\t\u003cp\u003e\n\t\t\tThe main elements, bird and fish, are carved from a solid block of aluminum, hand-sanded, then plated and polished. This material has the property of transferring vibrations without adding coloration, so what you hear with the birdfish is the tone of the neck and the tone bars.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\t\t\u003cp\u003e\n\t\t\tAll of the other parts are also hand-made and no detail is overlooked: The strap pins are designed to appear more elegant. The wire clamp is practically a piece of jewelry- cast in brass and buffed to a high gloss by hand before chrome plating. Even the stainless steel hex screws are hand-polished.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\t\t\u003cp\u003e\n\t\t\t\u003cstrong\u003eThe Tone:\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\t\t\u003cp\u003e\n\t\t\tThe tonebars define the basic sound of the Birdfish, like the body wood of a traditional guitar. Two sets are included: One pair is made of American Alder while the other is made of selected Michigan Maple. They are interchangeable and mixing them up allows the birdfish to alter its basic character. Their design allows them to react to every subtle nuance of the string vibrations and the result is a percussive and twangy attack.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\t\t\u003cp\u003e\n\t\t\tThe pickups are easily movable and interchangeable by hand. Five different pickups are inlcuded: Two single coils and three humbuckers. The character of the single coils is vintage. The tone of the humbuckers are like a P90, a PAF and a hot PAF. Each pickup can be placed in every position.
