The Legend J-45 is constructed with an Adirondack spruce top and solid Mahogany back and sides to produce authentic, throaty and full-bodied acoustic tone that's pefect for playing blues to bluegrass, folk to pop, and everything in-between.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe luthiers at Gibson's acoustic guitar plant in Bozeman, Montana, approached the J-45 1942 Legend Model from the standpoint of what it would be like if they could go back in time and build a brand new guitar exactly the way they were built in the heyday. So they went out and found the best-sounding, original vintage Gibson J-45 acoustic guitar they could locate and built a limited number of replicas employing the same materials, the same types of tools, same specs, etc...\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe guitar went through both X-ray and CAT scans to accurately determine the bracing patterns and wood thickness. The glue and finish were chemically analyzed. To make a long story short, Gibson learned everything about that guitar. The result? The Gibson Legend Series 1942 J-45 Acoustic Guitar.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Gibson round shoulder body shape is believed by many players to be the best sounding Gibson acoustic guitar ever made. The gently rounded upper bout keeps the highs clean and precise, while the deep lower bout ensures that famous Gibson bottom end. The body is constructed of solid, premium grade Honduran mahogany. The top is solid Adirondack spruce. Both the top and back are gently radiused to provide tension to the wood. This makes the wood vibrate (like a tuned drumhead), and as a result, projection and definition are greatly enhanced. The MASSIVE, hand-shaped neck is one piece of select, premium grade Mahogany. The guitar is in amazing shape for its age as though it has been pampered through out its life. It is a fantastic playing guitar with a tone that only age can provide. Whether you are playing Jazz, Rockabilly or trying to keep up with some Django lines, this instrument is beyond fun. The craftsmenship is something to behold, particularly the Rosewood and Mother of Pearl inlays. They are quite striking, unlike anything you'll see these days. This guitar is incredibly well built. It feels very stable yet resonates like it KNOWS that resonating is its job.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eGibson Serial Numbers were sketchy at the time but to the best of our knowledge we have been able to approximate this to a late '34 or 1935 Model according to its serial number and components. It has a white oval label inside the bass-side F Hole with the serial number and model still legible. The finish is Weather Checked and there are a few dings and dents across the body as well as hairline crack by the tip top of the bass side f-hole. Not serious but there. We have seen far younger guitars showing much more severe signs of wear than this vintage L7. The neck is straight and the frets are in nice shape but have some wear. It appears the guitar may have been refretted. Who ever did the work did a great job as the guitar is playing like butter! The nut also looks to have been changed and shimmed at some point. I suspect that this is also a repro pickgaurd as guitar from this era typically had original nitrate pickgaurds that were known to disintegrate with age\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis guitar is in very nice shape overall, but very old. The guitar is in amazing shape for its age as though it has been pampered through out its life. It is a fantastic playing guitar with a tone that only age can provide. Whether you are playing Jazz, Rockabilly or trying to keep up with some Django lines, this instrument is beyond fun. The craftsmenship is something to behold, particularly the Rosewood and Mother of Pearl inlays. They are quite striking, unlike anything you'll see these days. This guitar is incredibly well built. It feels very stable yet resonates like it KNOWS that resonating is its job.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eGibson Serial Numbers were sketchy at the time but to the best of our knowledge we have been able to approximate this to a late '34 or 1935 Model according to its serial number and components. It has a white oval label inside the bass-side F Hole with the serial number and model still legible. The finish is Weather Checked and there are a few dings and dents across the body as well as hairline crack by the tip top of the bass side f-hole. Not serious but there. We have seen far younger guitars showing much more severe signs of wear than this vintage L7. The neck is straight and the frets are in nice shape but have some wear. It appears the guitar may have been refretted. Who ever did the work did a great job as the guitar is playing like butter! The nut also looks to have been changed and shimmed at some point. I suspect that this is also a repro pickgaurd as guitar from this era typically had original nitrate pickgaurds that were known to disintegrate with age\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis guitar is in very nice shape overall, but very old. A round mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard is also standard and comes with beautiful mother-of-pearl parallelogram inlays. This is a great sounding Gibson based on the classic, vintage Hummingbird but with slightly more understated cosmetic appointments. Thanks to an L.R. Baggs Element under-saddle transducer and built-in preamp the tone is excellent plugged-in or unplugged. An ingenious sound hole mounted volume control keeps the look clean as well. Binding is 6-ply on top and 4-ply on the back. Gold keystone tuners, a mother-of-pearl crown inlay on the headstock, tortoise pickguard and a traditional Gibson rosewood bridge complete the look. This Gibson Montana acoustic guitar features a washed heritage cherry lacquer finish, solid premium Sitka Spruce top and solid Mahogany back and sides. A round mahogany neck with rosewood fingerboard is also standard and comes with beautiful mother-of-pearl parallelogram inlays. This is a great sounding Gibson based on the classic, vintage Hummingbird but with slightly more understated cosmetic appointments. Thanks to an L.R. Baggs Element under-saddle transducer and built-in preamp the tone is excellent plugged-in or unplugged. An ingenious sound hole mounted volume control keeps the look clean as well. Binding is 6-ply on top and 4-ply on the back. Gold keystone tuners, a mother-of-pearl crown inlay on the headstock, tortoise pickguard and a traditional Gibson rosewood bridge complete the look. A minute scuff or two, and what looks like the outline of tape residue on the headstock (as if someone taped over the Gibson logo and inlay with scotch tape, then didn’t clean all the residue off when it was removed) are all that keeps it from being “mint \/ immaculate”.
